  1. It just depends on the book and whether or not I want it bad enough to pay full price for a hardcover. Certain ones, I can't wait and I will go ahead and spend the extra bucks, but if I can get paperbacks I do most of the time because that means two books for the price of one hardcover. :)

  2. It only depends on whether or not I really like the book. Because, if I love the book, I want a paperback because then I can read and read it without dealing with hardcovers and dust jackets. Hardcovers are a little prettier sometimes but are a bit of a hassle sometimes.

  3. If I love the book then I will by the hardcover, if not then just paperback. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  4. I like both, but most of the time I wait until they come out in paperback because it is cheaper.

  5. I like hardcover because they come with a soft jacket.

  6. I love hardcovers because the covers are so beautiful but I'm fine with paperbacks as well:)

    ReplyDelete
  7. My favorite are trade paperbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'd prefer hardcovers. The covers rock, I dont' have to get the jacket dirty because I can take it off, I have no fear of ripping the cover, and I don't bend the pages as easily. :D

  9. I definitely prefer hardbacks! They just feel so sturdy and more 'epic' I guess. I also find them easier to hold in my lap. Paperbacks usually feel small and flimsy and I don't like holding them. Also hardbacks seem so much more collectable to me.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I prefer paperbacks because I tend to carry at least 2 books wherever I go.

    1. Ah! This is a good reason! I also carry physical books with me, and my purse always thanks me when they are paperbacks. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  11. I prefer hardcovers. I just love the feel of them and the are not as fragile. When I by a great book, I want it to be beautiful on my shelves and not all bent up. I tend to be hard on paperbacks.

  12. I prefer paperbacks, but don't mind hardbacks. :) Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  13. I like hardbacks and paperbacks equally. Oftentimes, I'll get paperback when it's available though just because I can get two paperbacks for about the price of one hardback :)

  14. I like either. I normally choose paperback just cause they're cheaper, but they're both nice.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I prefer hardbacks but still own paperbacks. A book is a book! :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I like both - mostly paperbacks first but if it's a long book, I like the hardback more because it's easier for me to see the words!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hardback looks nice on the shelf but paperback much more conveniet.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love hardbacks because it looks better on my shelf as well the font is bigger and easier to read than paperbacks!

  19. I love hardbacks but paperbacks are more convenient and cheaper.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hardcovers for me. If I am going to get a book, I might as well splurge!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like both hard covers and trade paperbacks. The only thing I have a problem with is the mass market paperbacks. I hardly ever read those because I don't like the smaller size and how the spine of the book cracks so easily.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Paperbacks:) they are lighter:)

  23. I prefer paperbacks due to their price but hardbacks last longer.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I prefer hardcovers. They keep better. Paperbacks can get ruined quick.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Either way! :) Hardbacks last longer so if its a book i really really like then hardcover, but ill be fine with paperbacks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I prefer hardcovers, although I normally go with paperbacks because they're less expensive

    1. Hi Jaime! That's awesome. I am careful with my paperbacks as well so they usually stand up fo ra long time. My only hesitation is when I loan them out... I never know what I may get back! ;)
      Thanks for stopping by!

  35. Before I started blogging, all I would buy were the paperbacks...but now I've totally fallen in love with hardcovers. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. For me it mostly depends on the genre or whether I have the first book in hardback. I love having all my YA books in Hardback but for my adult books I like to have them in paperback unless I have the first in a series in Hardback and then I want the rest of the series to match

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't have a big preference, but I guess I like hardbacks better. They hold the book open better. =) Thanks for the giveaway!

  38. If it's a series, then I like to have all of them in hardcover. But if it's just a single novel, I prefer paperbacks. I'm weird that way. :P

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love hardcovers, but paperbacks are easier and lighter to carry around and cheaper.

    ReplyDelete
  52. This is a very difficult question. I love both, it's just super difficult to decide. I'd definitely have to go into like rant mode. xD

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm fine with both, but I think hardcovers are better :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love hardcovers, but will also read paperbacks if that is what is available.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hardcover... they last longer and I think they look nicer.

    ReplyDelete
  56. So tough because I adore hardcovers for how amazing they look, but paperbacks are much easier to store! But I guess, ultimately, hardcovers are my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Most of the time I buy whatever is less expensive (not always the paperback). With lots of readers in the house, we have to be able to buy for everyone and we don't all like the same things. I personally PREFER HB, just because they last longer.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It depends on the book. If I really, really loved it then I'll pay extra to get it in hardcover otherwise I just buy paperback. :))

Thanks for the awesome giveaway! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  59. HARDCOVER! Any time. & when a book is not available in HC I makes the pout-est scenes. Paperback is just... gah, IDK. SOMETIMES is looks fine. Other NO.

If anything, all the books in my shelves of the same serie MUST be in the same format.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think I prefer paperbacks because they are easier to hold when you read. Hardbacks are pretty though!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I prefer hardcovers because they last longer. Paperbacks are good but they are just not as nice as a hardcover book.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

    Thanks!

  63. I prefer hardcovers because they stand up to use better.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hardbacks last longer, but paperbacks are easier to take places!

    ReplyDelete
  65. paperbacks are easier to handle and read, hardbacks hold up better. It's really a toss up for me! Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  66. Truthfully, I read all on my Kindle Fire, I hate holding real book, sorry, but thats me. IF i have to suffer through a real book, paperbacks are ok, but rather hardbacks for collections ect. I usually buy first edition HB and never read them, then buy kindle version too.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Books are books. Who cares what form they come in?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I honestly like both forms equally. Both have their pros and cones.

Hardback Pros: They are sturdier, and their binding ensure that they last longer. Hardback Cons: They are more expensive, and tend to weigh more, thus making their portability a bit of a problem.

Paperback Pros: They are light, and take up less space on the shelf, and are cheaper than the hardback, usually. Paperback Cons: Being lighter means they are not as sturdy, and it is easier to crease the pages and the cover of the book.

Ultimately, I tend to usually go with whichever format is cheaper. However, if I'm buying books in a series, if the first book was bought in a certain format, the rest have to be bought in the same format. I'm a bit particular about that. I wish I could give you a more concrete answer, but this is the best I can do! :)

Thank you for your help in promoting debut authors, for your generosity, for being part of this blog hop, and for this amazing giveaway...

    1. Hira, thank you so much for the very thoughtful reply. I do agree, hardbacks are sturdy and last longer. Paperbacks are lighter and cheaper. I LOVE having a series in the same format: all paperback or all hardcover. I am always a little sad that they did not release Frostbite and Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy series, in hardcover. THey are my only two paperbacks in that series.

Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!

  69. I prefer hardback covers.

  70. I prefer paperbacks because they are not as heavy and I can bend the covers if I want to, although I try not to in order to keep them in good shape. Also, paperbacks are smaller and can fit in my purse. :) If I want to read a book bad enough, though, I will buy the hardcover and not wait for the paperback.
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

  80. Hardcovers because they smell newer much longer! (Or is it all in my head???!)

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think they both have their goods and bads, but i particularly like the way a paperback will crinkle on the spine after you read it for a while. It makes it look loved.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I like both paperbacks and hardcovers, however, I think I like hardcovers slightly more.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I like hardbacks. I add the shiny covers to them like you get from libraries. I learned how to put them on at my last job. Thanks for the chance to win.
