It just depends on the book and whether or not I want it bad enough to pay full price for a hardcover. Certain ones, I can't wait and I will go ahead and spend the extra bucks, but if I can get paperbacks I do most of the time because that means two books for the price of one hardcover. :)

It only depends on whether or not I really like the book. Because, if I love the book, I want a paperback because then I can read and read it without dealing with hardcovers and dust jackets. Hardcovers are a little prettier sometimes but are a bit of a hassle sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIf I love the book then I will by the hardcover, if not then just paperback. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI like both, but most of the time I wait until they come out in paperback because it is cheaper.
ReplyDeleteI like hardcover because they come with a soft jacket.
ReplyDeleteI love hardcovers because the covers are so beautiful but I'm fine with paperbacks as well:)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are trade paperbacks.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer hardcovers. The covers rock, I dont' have to get the jacket dirty because I can take it off, I have no fear of ripping the cover, and I don't bend the pages as easily. :D
ReplyDeleteI definitely prefer hardbacks! They just feel so sturdy and more 'epic' I guess. I also find them easier to hold in my lap. Paperbacks usually feel small and flimsy and I don't like holding them. Also hardbacks seem so much more collectable to me.
ReplyDeleteI prefer paperbacks because I tend to carry at least 2 books wherever I go.
ReplyDeleteAh! This is a good reason! I also carry physical books with me, and my purse always thanks me when they are paperbacks. :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI prefer hardcovers. I just love the feel of them and the are not as fragile. When I by a great book, I want it to be beautiful on my shelves and not all bent up. I tend to be hard on paperbacks.
ReplyDeleteI prefer paperbacks, but don't mind hardbacks. :) Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWendy @ Escape Into Fiction
I like hardbacks and paperbacks equally. Oftentimes, I'll get paperback when it's available though just because I can get two paperbacks for about the price of one hardback :)
ReplyDeleteI like either. I normally choose paperback just cause they're cheaper, but they're both nice.
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardbacks but still own paperbacks. A book is a book! :)
ReplyDeleteI like both - mostly paperbacks first but if it's a long book, I like the hardback more because it's easier for me to see the words!
ReplyDeleteHardback looks nice on the shelf but paperback much more conveniet.
ReplyDeleteI love hardbacks because it looks better on my shelf as well the font is bigger and easier to read than paperbacks!
ReplyDeleteI love hardbacks but paperbacks are more convenient and cheaper.
ReplyDeleteHardcovers for me. If I am going to get a book, I might as well splurge!
ReplyDeleteI like both hard covers and trade paperbacks. The only thing I have a problem with is the mass market paperbacks. I hardly ever read those because I don't like the smaller size and how the spine of the book cracks so easily.
ReplyDeletePaperbacks:) they are lighter:)
ReplyDelete-JennyC
I prefer paperbacks due to their price but hardbacks last longer.
ReplyDeleteI prefer paperbacks but I'm not really sure why, other than price. Maybe size? They're easier to fit in my purse.
ReplyDeleteI usually like hard backs the best but paperback are easier to read :)
ReplyDeletePaperback they are easier to carry around but I don't like how they get worn down so quickly
ReplyDeleteHardcovers
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers but will buy paperbacks if they're cheaper
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers. They keep better. Paperbacks can get ruined quick.
ReplyDeleteEither way! :) Hardbacks last longer so if its a book i really really like then hardcover, but ill be fine with paperbacks!
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers, although I normally go with paperbacks because they're less expensive
ReplyDeletegenerally paperbacks
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardbacks. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHardbacks, I think they look better on the shelf and stay in better condition.
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers though I tend to buy more paperbacks :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!
I prefer hardbacks because they have a much longer shelf life.
ReplyDeleteA book is a book is a book. If I am collecting a series, I want to have Hardbacks. But I honestly don't mind paperbacks. I am so very careful with my books that even the paperbacks stand up well! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHi Jaime! That's awesome. I am careful with my paperbacks as well so they usually stand up fo ra long time. My only hesitation is when I loan them out... I never know what I may get back! ;)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Hardcovers :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers.
ReplyDeleteHardcovers:)
ReplyDeleteBefore I started blogging, all I would buy were the paperbacks...but now I've totally fallen in love with hardcovers. :)
ReplyDeleteFor me it mostly depends on the genre or whether I have the first book in hardback. I love having all my YA books in Hardback but for my adult books I like to have them in paperback unless I have the first in a series in Hardback and then I want the rest of the series to match
ReplyDeleteI don't have a big preference, but I guess I like hardbacks better. They hold the book open better. =) Thanks for the giveaway!

If it's a series, then I like to have all of them in hardcover. But if it's just a single novel, I prefer paperbacks. I'm weird that way. :P
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this amazing giveaway!
I love either..just as long as it's a print book. ;)
ReplyDeletehttp://generationgbooks.wordpress.com/
I prefer hard covers but paperbacks are great too. I just like a print book.
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers if I've read the book and loved it and want a better, long-lasting copy.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog header, BTW!
I prefer e-books, but of those you list, hardcovers.
ReplyDeletePaperbacks, but they usually don't look too good when I'm done with them :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardbacks.
ReplyDeletersgrandinetti@yahoo(DOT)com
I prefer hardcovers but I'm okay as long as it's a physical book...I'm old school like that I guess. Thanks for choosing this book for the giveaway...I need a copy for a book club that I am joining and thus far my library has not ordered it. Here's hoping...thanks again.

Stiletto Storytime
Paperbacks! Just because they are easy to carry around. It appears I am the minority =).
ReplyDeleteLilian @ A Novel Toybox
I love them both, but I probably prefer hardcovers because I have much less of a chance of damaging them. Thanks for the giveaway(:
ReplyDeleteHardbacks are a nicer view for the bookshelf but paperbacks are more convenient to carry.
ReplyDeleteI love Hard cover books! I put them on my mantle.
ReplyDeletesqwalker2@hotmail.com
Hardcovers allll the way! They just lay open on their own and I take the covers off when I read to preserve them :)
ReplyDeleteI love hardcovers, but paperbacks are easier and lighter to carry around and cheaper.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very difficult question. I love both, it's just super difficult to decide. I'd definitely have to go into like rant mode. xD
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with both, but I think hardcovers are better :)
ReplyDeletePaperbacks!
ReplyDeleteI love hardcovers, but will also read paperbacks if that is what is available.
ReplyDeleteHardcover... they last longer and I think they look nicer.
ReplyDeleteSo tough because I adore hardcovers for how amazing they look, but paperbacks are much easier to store! But I guess, ultimately, hardcovers are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I buy whatever is less expensive (not always the paperback). With lots of readers in the house, we have to be able to buy for everyone and we don't all like the same things. I personally PREFER HB, just because they last longer.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the book. If I really, really loved it then I'll pay extra to get it in hardcover otherwise I just buy paperback. :))
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway! ♥
HARDCOVER! Any time. & when a book is not available in HC I makes the pout-est scenes. Paperback is just... gah, IDK. SOMETIMES is looks fine. Other NO.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, all the books in my shelves of the same serie MUST be in the same format.
I'm a Hardcover kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteDitto! :)
DeleteI think I prefer paperbacks because they are easier to hold when you read. Hardbacks are pretty though!
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers because they last longer. Paperbacks are good but they are just not as nice as a hardcover book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.
I think I like hardcover books better but I love 'em both!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I prefer hardcovers because they stand up to use better.
ReplyDeleteHardbacks last longer, but paperbacks are easier to take places!
ReplyDeletepaperbacks are easier to handle and read, hardbacks hold up better. It's really a toss up for me! Thanks
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, I read all on my Kindle Fire, I hate holding real book, sorry, but thats me. IF i have to suffer through a real book, paperbacks are ok, but rather hardbacks for collections ect. I usually buy first edition HB and never read them, then buy kindle version too.
ReplyDeleteBooks are books. Who cares what form they come in?
ReplyDeleteI honestly like both forms equally. Both have their pros and cones.
ReplyDeleteHardback Pros: They are sturdier, and their binding ensure that they last longer. Hardback Cons: They are more expensive, and tend to weigh more, thus making their portability a bit of a problem.
Paperback Pros: They are light, and take up less space on the shelf, and are cheaper than the hardback, usually. Paperback Cons: Being lighter means they are not as sturdy, and it is easier to crease the pages and the cover of the book.
Ultimately, I tend to usually go with whichever format is cheaper. However, if I'm buying books in a series, if the first book was bought in a certain format, the rest have to be bought in the same format. I'm a bit particular about that. I wish I could give you a more concrete answer, but this is the best I can do! :)
Thank you for your help in promoting debut authors, for your generosity, for being part of this blog hop, and for this amazing giveaway...

Hira, thank you so much for the very thoughtful reply. I do agree, hardbacks are sturdy and last longer. Paperbacks are lighter and cheaper. I LOVE having a series in the same format: all paperback or all hardcover. I am always a little sad that they did not release Frostbite and Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy series, in hardcover. THey are my only two paperbacks in that series.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by and good luck!
I prefer hardback covers.
ReplyDeleteI prefer paperbacks because they are not as heavy and I can bend the covers if I want to, although I try not to in order to keep them in good shape. Also, paperbacks are smaller and can fit in my purse. :) If I want to read a book bad enough, though, I will buy the hardcover and not wait for the paperback.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful giveaway.
Thanks for the giveaway! I prefer hardbacks.
ReplyDeleteI like hardbacks the best. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI only prefer a hardcover if that's the only thing out yet. Otherwise, I prefer a paperback because they're easier to fit into my bag.
ReplyDeleteI love books in general. Doesn't matter to me! :)
ReplyDeleteIf it's a gift, hardcover. If I have to pay for it, paperback (I'm super-cheap).
ReplyDeletei like both. hardcovers last better, but paperbacks are usually cheaper and easier to cart around!
ReplyDeleteHardcovers because they are more sturdy but I do love paperbacks because they're cheaper!
ReplyDeleteAgree totally! I love hardcovers and tend to buy more of them, but I can't resist a good paperback, especially if I'm not sure I'll keep the book. Paperbacks are cheaper!
DeleteHardbacks!
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers and collect them for novels I want to keep!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
kimberlybreid at hotmail dot com
i love all forms! thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI like paperbacks but if I already have the 1st book in hardcover than I like when the others are hardcover.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
Hardcovers because they smell newer much longer! (Or is it all in my head???!)
ReplyDeleteI think they both have their goods and bads, but i particularly like the way a paperback will crinkle on the spine after you read it for a while. It makes it look loved.
ReplyDeleteI like both paperbacks and hardcovers, however, I think I like hardcovers slightly more.
ReplyDeleteI like hardbacks. I add the shiny covers to them like you get from libraries. I learned how to put them on at my last job. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers they just seem to stay nicer longer!!!
ReplyDeleteI prefer hardcovers. They stay nice longer.
ReplyDeletekathyross75@yahoo.com
I prefer hardcovers, especially now that my boys think everything that is mine is theirs, too. My bookshelves are no longer safe. *sobs a little*
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this giveaway! I've had my eye on this book for a while now, and a signed cover would be absolutely amazing. I heard such great things about it.

The Book Hookup
Paperbacks for the most part- they're lighter and a better fit for my little hands.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this giveaway! I prefer hardcovers because they're just glossier and they last longer, especially with rereads, than paperbacks do.
ReplyDeleteI like hardcovers, paperbacks seem to fall apart easier!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Hardbacks for the shelf. Paperbacks if its something I have to hold for a while.
ReplyDeleteeither I am not picky
ReplyDeletelove hard covers!!
ReplyDeleteI prefer paperbacks! (but either is fine)
ReplyDeletewilsonre09@students.ecu.edu
Paperbacks because of the way I hold books when I read. I like the look of hardcovers on my bookshelf though.
ReplyDeleteI prefer hard covers for my shelves- but I love paperbacks and don't mind lending them out as much. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
