Top Ten Tuesday! (2)

Thank you to The Broke and the Bookish!
I am really excited about this week's question because it's Valentine's Day

This week's question is:
Top Ten Favorite Romances
I'm going to list romance relationships, not necessarily romance books.
And go!

In no particular order:

1. Rose and Dimitri (Vampire Academy)
Swoon. Rose, the head strong teenager who will stop at nothing to protect her best friend. Dimitri, the mysterious instructor/teacher who will train her and prepare her for battle. Throw in some vampires, a capture and redemption and you've got a story just as delicious as Angel and Buffy. (Sorry Spike fans.)

2. Lucy and Nicholas (The Drake Chronicles)
Oh Lucy, you are hilarious. If it's illogical and dangerous, Lucy leaps right in and her best friend's brother Nicholas can't stand her. NOT! Vampire Nicholas and human Lucy have funny banter, sweet romance and a love that blooms from not liking each other that much. They are my favorite couple in the Drake Chronicles.

3. Keenan and Donia (Wicked Lovely series)
I love this couple and won't give anything away about how it ends. But wow. A story you want them to fight for.

4. Hermione and Ron (Harry Potter series)
I mean, com'on. You cannot have this list without these two. Young love doesn't always run smoothly. Friendship that blossoms into something more, something deeper between the super smart Granger and the loveable Weasley is a love to root for. I love re-reading the books and seeing this develop.

5. Alejandro and Brittany (Perfect Chemistry)
Opposites attract, or crash into each other. The tension is fierce, the romance hot, and after I read the library copy I went out to purchase my own. Spoiled rich girl falls in love with dangerous guy from wrong side of tracks? But it's so much more! Brittany is more than a cookie cutter and Alex grows into his full potential, risking it all for love. How more romantic can you get?

6. Eve and Roarke (In Death series) Adult
There's not a lot of over 30 book series, but the In Death series beats all odds. It's not just about tough cop Eve solving horrific crimes, or suave bah-zillionaire Roarke at her side. No, it's about Eve and Roarke's relationship and support for each other. They've been together since book one and have a successful, loving and complicated relationship. Real stuff, not just drama. Sometimes, couples can live happily ever after and still be interesting to read about.

7. Meg and John (Going Too Far)
I don't know what it is about this book, but I read it in one afternoon and then read it again. Meg's rebellious streak is easy to fall in love with, and John's love for rules and order in husky cop form is enticing. Especially as Meg breaks down his walls and he becomes more. They push each other's buttons and break each other's hearts. A wild rollercoaster of a romance.

8. Wrath and Beth (Black Dagger Brotherhood series) Adult
Wrath, the king of the vampires, has to protect Beth as she goes through her change from human to vampire. Wrath is grumpy, stable, and maybe just needs a hug. If he could admit that to himself. Beth is strong willed, smart and seems like the only one who can push him around, and he'll listen. Hmmm, wonder if they'll end up together?
Throw in some danger, vampire slayers, a lot of large strapping men with inside jokes and you've got a series that I obsess about on a regular basis. Oh, and got all my friends reading too.

9. Jessica and Lucas (Jessica Rules the Dark Side)
What do you get when a vegetarian teenager is betrothed to a vampire prince? You get an awesome and hilarious book. This is still one of my favorite YA books for its humor and for the relationship that grows between Jessica and Lucas. It's one of those books that you can clearly see why each character falls in love with the other.

10. Elizabeth and Darcy (Pride & Prejudice)
Duh.

And honorable mention goes to:

Miranda and Archer (Firelight) Adult
A victorian paranormal beauty and the beast story. I think I talk about this book in almost every list.
Love. Love. Love.

Thanks for reading! What are yours??
