Review:

A beautiful collection of short stories from Aimee Carter, companion to her Goddess series.

The short stories add so much depth and warmth to these gods and goddesses. You see Persephone and Hades's courtship from Persephone's point of view. The events that took place that start the goddess test, and what happened to the girls before Kate Winters. And the first story is heartbreaking- Zeus's love and eventual betrayal to his wife Hera and Hera's change into Calliope.

I loved this idea. The tales really expanded the usually untouchable characters in the book, giving them new life and exposing their real motivations and heartbreaks. I had forgotten I hated Calliope/Hera during her story. And while I'm still not a fan, when I read Book Three in the series, I'll keep her sad story in the back of my mind.

Aimee Carter is doing such a fantastic job retelling these classic myths. Fun twists, real complex characters and complicated relationships entwine in so many ways.
You don't need to read The Goddess Test series to enjoy this book, but I suggest you do.
