Pick Your A Thon! Mini Challenge- hosted by The Book Monsters

Hi There!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks to The Book Monsters for hosting this Pick Your A Thon!

I'm running a small mini challenge here on The Windy Pages and hope you'll participate! If you haven't signed up yet for the Pick Your A Thon, stop by The Book Monsters!

My mini challenge today is super fun!
Just pick a song that reminds you of the book you are reading/reviewing!
That's it!

Put the title of the song, artist and why this song reminds you of the book in the comments section. You don't have to paste the lyrics of the song, but if you wanted to that's cool!

For example:
When I read Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
the song that kept going through my head was:

"Come On Get Higher"/Matt Nathanson

I miss the sound of your voice
And I miss the rush of your skin
And I miss the still of the silence
As you breathe out and I breathe in

If I could walk on water

If I could tell you what's next
I'd make you believe
I'd make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips

Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the sound of your voice

Loudest thing in my head
And I ache to remember
All the violent, sweet
Perfect words that you said

If I could walk on water

If I could tell you what's next
I'd make you believe
I'd make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips

Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the pull of your heart

I taste the sparks on your tongue
I see angels and devils
And God, when you come on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Sing sha la la la

Sing sha la la la la

Ooo Ooo Ooo...

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me, drown me in love

It's all wrong, it's all wrong

It's all wrong, it's so right
So come on, get higher
So come on and get higher
'Cause everything works, love
Everything works in your arms.

Happy Reading!
Oh, and the letter for today is: H

  1. It feels like cheating participating in today's challenge, because so many of the books I'm reading are by musicians. David Byrne from the Talking Heads wrote BICYCLE DIARIES--I actually picture Os Mutantes' "A Minha Menina" while I read that one, because he loves them so much and mentions Brazil a lot in the book. (No use posting those lyrics, because they're in Portuguese.) Singer-songwriter Joe Pernice mentions "I'm Your Puppet" in his IT FEELS SO GOOD WHEN I STOP; even though he recorded a very pretty version, the James and Bobby Purify original is the one that keeps going through my head...

  2. Haha! I just read (listened to, rather) Fat Kid Rules the World by KL Going. The whole time I had The Ramones' "Judy Is a Punk" running through my head.

    Jackie is a punk
    Judy is a runt
They both went down to Berlin, joined the Ice Capades
And oh, I don't know why
    Oh, I don't know why
Perhaps they'll die, oh yeah [x4]

Second verse, same as the first... etc.

I had no idea I knew as many Ramones and Clash songs as I do, it was a weird realization for me. If you get a chance to read the book/watch the movie, do! It's really sweet!

The last novel I had read was The Shadow of the Wind so that's what it's about!
