TGIF at GReads! (13)

Thanks to GReads for hosting!

This week's questions is:
Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?
Hmmm...

First off- the covers! I buy books on covers alone. Seeing as how there are some really stunning covers out there, it's easy to get carried away!

I read other book bloggers' reviews! I have a few that I follow regularly and we have similar tastes so if they like, even if I'm not sure, I'll give it a try!

I also usually scan the new releases area of my local library. I find really wonderful books there. Some I've never heard of and others I've been dying to check out!
If I've never heard of the book, but it is by an author I'm familiar with, I will pick it up.

And last but not least, the front cover quote! If an author I adore is quoted on the front cover, promoting a book, I will buy it. That's happened to me a couple of times, especially in the romance section. There are so many romance authors out there, it's hard to tell who I would like. A great way to narrow it down is by reading favorite authors promoting others' work.

You should see my romance TBR pile. Many of these are acquired this way.

Thanks for reading. What draws you to picking up new books?

  1. I'm the type to fall hard for a pretty cover, but I always make sure to check out the blurb and see if I'm at all interested in the story. :)
